The most popular style of eye makeup that is worn at most counters is the traditional smokey eye style, just in different colors.
Along the brow ridge, a highlight (light color, usually a light frost or a lighter color than your natural skin tone).
Over the lid area, the color of choice.
In the inner V (the corner next to the nose) a slightly lighter shade of the color of choice or a coordinating color in a light shade.
In the outer V (outer corner of the eye) and along the crease, a darker shade of the color of choice (or for a traditional smokey eye, a dark grey or black).
Line with a liquid liner (most artists use basic black at all times) and tightline (line the wet line of your eye as well). You can also tightline with white to make your eyes appear wider.
Most also finish off the look by curling the lashes, adding a set of false lashes also, and then a coating of mascara.
Here's what I personally use for the traditional, basic (yet gorgeous) smokey eye:

What's a good eyeshadow color for me?
I'm Chinese-Canadian, I have brownish black hair, and really dark, almost black eyes. What;s a good eyeshadow color?What's a good eyeshadow color for me?

dark eyes dont need eyeshadow it looks like you have some on already but if you want you can apply a sheer glitter color to enhance your natural darkness.
Chinese-Canadian?! Awesome! Asian Canadians are gorgeous. Well I'm not a female so I can't help you, how about navy blue withsome glitter?
Try Deep Plums and Mocha shades and Brown Eyeliner and layers of Black Mascara for big full lashes
Okay, nice description (and nice mix of origins by the way!)... alright, you should definately not wear anything too dark. Considering the origins you mentioned, you probably have quite fair skin and thus anything too dark would be too dramatic in a bad way- like you don't know how to take care of your appearance probably. Or maybe you can wear dark colors, but not too noticeable. As in, on the lower eyelid part and go lighter for the higher eyelid area. But I think what would be best, especially in this heat, would be a nice noticeable but natural look. Keep it subtle. Especially with your lips- it can look really good. So, in other words, I really suggest a good mix of an eye-catching and subtle makeover. Good luck, hope this helped and good luck!
I would try a lavender shadow on the lids with a dark brown eyeliner, but only on the top lid, then black mascara. This should give you big doe eyes. Have fun and experiment, ask a friend for her opinion, you will find something that works on you :)
You can wear any color...dark eyes are great for experimenting with eyeshadow colors.

These colors look flattering on celebritys and were recomended the best colors to use by Teen People magazine. I'm not just telling you because I read it. I've experimented on my friends to see if it would make your eye color 'Pop'.
When I applyed the pink to their eyelids, it looked more 'little girl who just learned to put make-up on'. Plus pink doesn't go with everything.
A dark peacock green looks wonderful on brown eyes. It really makes your eyes flattering and draws the attension straight to them. Gold is fabulous on brown eyes. It's the number one color to make your eyes 'POP' and it also matches with just about everything!
DO NOT TRY A LIME GREEN! Dark green is the only green you should use. Avoid buying shadows with no glitter, they look bland. Try to find a sparkly color or maybe even a cream.

hey i'm canadian too lol and funny but i have black eyes too it's really hard to find a eye shadow that works for me coz on balck eyes not every color lokks good dont ever use brown or black coz it makes ur eyes lokk scary and wierd but i use purple pink and golden and they lokk really preety with my eyes my fav though is golden coz it makes ur eyes lokk natrual but at the same time it has that bronze glow it's lokks really pretty and u dont always have to use eyes shadow because black eye have a natrual glow that make shtem pretty and it makes them stand out even without the eyeshadow hope this helps

You can also apply a coat of dark blue mascara over black mascara to make the whites of your eyes appear whiter.

Green eye shadow will complement olive skin tones and enhance the color and shape of brown eyes while the nude lips won鈥檛 take away from the bold eye shadow color. In order to create depth, apply a darker color green along the lash line and a lighter green in the crease.

Just try different shades, you want your eyes to pop naturally without looking wild and crazy, and bringing unwanted attention to your eyes.

My eyes are a greyish greenish color too. I use the loreal hip navy blue colored eye liner and light purple eyeshadows. They make my eye color look really bright.

for when your eyes are green: try a goldyish peachish (its not pink) its by sephora and it is a metallic goldy and it has a little touch of peach in it. that is what i wear and i have green eyes. and then you could also just try a really neat silver color.

Hi,i have green eyes and i use darker greens.brown,gold,dark grey %26amp;copper.and i was surprised to find that pinkish shades look good too.but really it is what you personally feel happy with,try different colours until you find the ones that work for you,maybe get one of those pallettes of about 20 different colours and just mess around ,try combining two or three colours together say green on the inside of the lid nearer your nose then use a dark grey through the socket line and extend the colour to the outside of your eyes,then use copper under the eye then add lots of black mascara.It is trial and error really,but i am sure you will find what looks best on you . I have very oily skin and I want to wear eyeshadow without it creasing within 3 hours of applying it. If you have any suggestion of some good eye shadow bases that are good for oily skin and that are available in Canada that would be great!

Urban Decay Primer Potion works best for oily lids, it can be purchased at Sephora and many places online. The downside is the tube it comes in, the shape of it doesnt allow you to get all the product out so when you think it is gone, if you cut it open there is still a massive amount inside.
Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which you can also purchase at Sephora (and also at some locations of The Bay) is also a great choice, and it comes in a tube that you dont have to cut open. :)Any suggestions on good eyeshadow bases for oily skin.?
