Normally women wear it on the whole eye lid. Meaning above your eye, some wear a hint of color on the bottom lid, but I myself do not. It can make your eyes appear bigger when applied to the bottom though.How should eyeshadow be properly applied? On the eyelid or around the whole eye?

natural color like brown beige could be use on the whole eye while colored shadows should be applied on the eyelids only.it will create its own blend later.

You can apply eye shadow where ever. It's a matter of choice and style. For the more natural look, I would only apply it to the corners of the eye, from the inside out. If you want more of a dramactic look apply a darker color on the bottom of the eyelid and add the lighter above the darker to the end toward your eye brows. No just on the eye lid , but you can use a lighter color on the rest of the eye
