I just bought this beautiful dark blue evening dress that goes well with my skintone, but I just don't know what make-up to wear with it. Too dark makes me look like I got punched in the eye! Well what I do is go onto covergirl.com and they will ask questions about skin color, eye color, hair color, ect. Then they will give you a complete guide of makeup colors to use. Like mascara, blush, eye shadow, lipstick.
Put a darker shadow in your crease to make your eyes look bigger and prettier.. Don't use the same color shadow as your dress, but use the same color tone. maybe silver/gray shadow... put the silver on ur lids and the lighest color (maybe a white?) under your brows. blend and use black eyeliner. Only on the top and the outer half of the bottom.
ok well try mac makeup it really works the best..in my opinion. it will stay on glitter but not too much and bring out your eyes, and it WONT smudge.

try a lighter gold on the lid of your eye and then a little darker gold on the crease....then u can put up a little eyeliner to bring out your eyes and itll be beautiful with your dresss..
or you can try a kind of blue on the lid and a darker blue on the crease

then u can use mac pressed powder and este lauder concealer to hide the dark spots (if u have any)
and a blush not too bright but just a little pink and brush it on the apples of your cheeks and take a bronzer and slightly brush it under your apples and a little on your jawline itll give your face a more defined shape

do a soft golden bronze type color. almost gold like but not! and also use a light light brown with it, it will help soften up your eyes and yet go with both your hair/skin and dark gown.
Here's what i would wear, A nice light color eyeshadow and a pink gloss. You don't want to go to dark the secret is to not let them know your wearing make-up

I have blue eyes, and when I want to make them pop, I put brown liquid eye liner on my upper lids only, a very thin line of it. Then I put a gold shimmer eye shadow above that. Its really simple, then whatever normal makeup you put on your face should look fine. (:

-brown liquid eyeliner on upper lids only. putting it on the lower lids makes your eyes look smaller than they actually are.
-some gold shimmer or goldish-brown eyeshadow on top of that. it will bring out the blue and make your eyes look more opened up and awake.

Don't listen to most of the previous advice! Use a chocolate or black eyeliner on your top lids only; lining the bottom will make the eye look smaller. Get as close to the lash line as possible. Start at the inner part of your top lid with a very thin line. Make it gradually thicken at the middle of your lid and carry it a little past your lash line on the outside with the natural curve of your eyelashes. This will also make your lashes look bigger. For eyeshadow blend a darker color into your crease and apply a lighter color (cream, silver, etc.) on the inner corner of the eye. For mascara, comb and curl your lashes, then apply two coats to top lashes and one quick coat to the bottom. are you applying eyeshadow directly on your eyelids without prepping them first? you should put some pressed powder on your lids, i'll help the shadow stay on longer. what i do is apply some MAC paint (in a color called ';bare canvas';) over my eyelids..it's basically just a neutral colored creme eyeshadow. afterwards, apply the eyeshadow on top of that. this will keep your eyeshadow looking fresh for quite a while! it'll also help keep your eyeliner from smudging.
for eyeliners, i use a MAC pencil in black (it's the retractable one). it stays on the top lid because of the creme in the above step, but if you apply it on your bottom lid you should pat some pressed powder/foundation under your eyes so it doesnt smear. i've also found that waterproof liquid eyeliner stays forever! it takes a while to get the hang of applying it but it looks fantastic.
i know MAC isn't really cheap compared to drug store cosmetics but you're paying for quality--it's worth it!

i have trouble with the eyeliner, because i cant find a long lasting eyeliner,. but mineral makeup has this really good maskara and eyeshadow. the maskara stays on FOREVER well not litterly, but wen u wash it off, it is on there until you wash it off! but uhm the eyeshadow is good too. So is covergirls. and if u need help with covergirls maskara, there is something thats called lash blast, i just got it and it works perfectly! its aweosm!!

It's pretty rare that colored eyeshadow looks very good. Cupcake sounds like she has good ideas on it. Try some more neutral colors that will make people think your face looks pretty, not that your makeup looks pretty.

probably pink...it would be best if i saw a picture. But if you want to bring out your eye color I would NOT recommend blue because it will contrast with the color of your eyes.

It's pretty rare that colored eyeshadow looks very good. Cupcake sounds like she has good ideas on it. Try some more neutral colors that will make people think your face looks pretty, not that your makeup looks pretty.

Hey, I have blue eyes an I like to wear a cream color on my eye lid with a brown in the crease. Or pink on the lid, brown in the crease, an a cream color on the top by the brow. You could also where a pretty pink color on your eyes with a brown eyeliner? that looks super cute too. But thats just me.
probably pink...it would be best if i saw a picture. But if you want to bring out your eye color I would NOT recommend blue because it will contrast with the color of your eyes.

I have blue eyes, so I use brown next to them to make them look more blue. So, since my eyes are fairly big, I use a smudge brown eyeliner and a little golden brown on the lids up to the crease. If I want to do dramatic, though, I use a light charcoal color smudged above the eye and alittle in the corner and bottom with black mascara for the ';smokey eye'; affect. get a really good foundation 2 start with. (i like maybeline's moouse foundation.) put the foundation on ur eyelids then put the eyeshadow on over it it'll last ALOT longer. this works on ur lips as well but the color tends 2 blend on ur lips so i use a plain chap stick (carmax is my fav) then put on w/e lip stuff i'm wearin. this will make ur gloss keep the wet look (juz cuz it takes longer 2 soak n)
next find a good bronzer. bronzer is ur best friend esp when ur light skinned. it gives u a ';glowy'; type look. and u can use it all over ur face in place of foundation on juz on ur cheeks as blush
when it comes 2 color u can never go wrong wit earth tones and natural colors. but i personally LOVE the bronze look and ';rust'; type colors

You have a black dress, and any color works with black. It really depends on your eye color. If you have brown eyes I'd recommend purple, but you really have many choices (as long as they're not the same color as your own eyes). Green is best with peaches, light browns and lavender. With blue do warm browns, peaches, and light pinks. With hazel do browns or greens, depending on what color in your eyes you want to have stand out (brown to make green stand out, green to make brown stand out), and many shades of blue, like what looks great on my hazel-eyed friend. For gray, do cooler browns, purples or light pinks. Also, since this is a special event, I'd take it up another level with a little shimmer.

You have a black dress, and any color works with black. It really depends on your eye color. If you have brown eyes I'd recommend purple, but you really have many choices (as long as they're not the same color as your own eyes). Green is best with peaches, light browns and lavender. With blue do warm browns, peaches, and light pinks. With hazel do browns or greens, depending on what color in your eyes you want to have stand out (brown to make green stand out, green to make brown stand out), and many shades of blue, like what looks great on my hazel-eyed friend. For gray, do cooler browns, purples or light pinks. Also, since this is a special event, I'd take it up another level with a little shimmer.
I would not go with black eyeshadow. I would wear green eyeshadow, since it is a bright color and it will attract attention to your eyes so people will look at you. Also, black goes very well with green.

Ok. I think you should do a dark tan color. Sweep it on with your finger, then dab some off so it doesn't look too heavy (do this with a tissue).

if you have small dark eyes and want to make your eyes appear larger then you most definately want to stay away from dark colors .
Carry on the dark look by going with black or smokey colours. If you don't like the look of them on then go for a really Natural look with browns :-)

If you want to match your eyeshadow to your clothes, you can do it, there's just a trick. Don't mach EXACTLY right. Either do and off-shade or a contrasting one. Like, if you're wearing black, wear a white shadow, for red, do pink. For blue, do a golden, or if you wear green, put a purple or mauve shadow on.

I'll just adjust how much I put on and the intensity of my eyeliner/mascara depending on where I'm going- lighter for daytime, heavier for night. If I want to somehow pull my makeup and outfit together, I'll opt for a different colored lipstick or something.

I've found that brown eyes can usually play with any shade, it's just how much and how you apply it. I have light brown eyes with green rings, and my favorites to use are a purple shade or a light, sparkly green. Other browns look great too. I've found that brown eyes can usually play with any shade, it's just how much and how you apply it. I have light brown eyes with green rings, and my favorites to use are a purple shade or a light, sparkly green. Other browns look great too. I will keep it simple for you: First thing first, tools! An artist is only as good as their tools. So you need to use a good brush, none of that sponge on a stick they give you with eye-shadows from drug store. The brush I use for the lid color is slightly domed and med firm and slight tapered at bristle end and medium short in length. The design of this brushes bristles are the key to blending and will allow you to get some great looks like the smoky eye.
Next, to blend some dark colors like if you are trying to use some dark colors like Kim Kardashion uses, start with the darkest color first . I know against the norm, but trust me even if you are using a lighter pallet, start with the darkest color of your chosen pallet you are going to be using.
Tap brush to get excess shadow off so you don't get specks on cheeks to ruin makeup later. Now, start in crease on outside lower lids and sweep over and down and in to inner corner or mid way depending on desired look and lash line. Then continue this for several strokes and repeat with other eye. Kind of a semi-circular pattern.
Now use another brush, this should be fluffier, not so stiff with longer bristles and I start with the inner eye toward the nose and sweep up from inner corner to under brown area. Then sweep over entire lid and blend, with a soft hand.
Really your touch is important, some ppl have a heavy touch and you will end up with a darker eye, I like to use a lighter hand, your lids are the thinnest skin on your body so any tugging is not good, so I think light touch better.
Practice, practice, practice, you will get it... I hope this helps!

# Sweep a line of dark powder across the lash line from the inside to the outside. Use a stiff brush. Draw just beyond the outer corner of the eye for an almond shape. Tighten the lash line by stretching the outer corner towards the temple.
# Blend shadow carefully with a brush or cotton swab. This softens the line for a dreamy look. Avoid using fingers except to create an smudged mess. Avoid over-blending. Apply mascara directly or see Steps 5 and 6 to create a striking nighttime look.
# Add drama if desired by lining the eyes. Use a stiff narrow brush for a lighter look or an angled brush with wet powder to create a liquid eyeliner effect. Control the brush and keep the line smooth and continuous. Lines should narrow towards the inner eye.

I suggest you blend it in with a charcoal grey or black so it wont look so bright. Use a fluffy brush to blend it well, bright colors that are choppy look so harsh; that's the case with any color though.

I think they're really nice and if you read reviews on it, you'll usually find positive reviews saying how they are quite pigmented. Although each color is actually only the size of a dime, they last awhile and there are so many colors! I love this palette because it's well priced and has high quality. you could buy it at coastalscents.com
Tip: you should use the palette with a base for even more vibrant color.

I think they're really nice and if you read reviews on it, you'll usually find positive reviews saying how they are quite pigmented. Although each color is actually only the size of a dime, they last awhile and there are so many colors! I love this palette because it's well priced and has high quality. you could buy it at coastalscents.com
Tip: you should use the palette with a base for even more vibrant color.

I do it.....you take a flat brush and just dab it in the eye shadow and either tap it into the bottom lash line or drag it just underneath- not nearly as harsh as putting eyeliner under your lower lash line but definitely has an eye-opening effect.Some people put eyeshadow under their eyes?

I know the regular MAC eyeshadow costs around 15 bucks and the one that's 11 is the one you place in the palette, but what's the difference in amount of product in the eyeshadow? There is no difference in size or the amount of product you receive.
When you buy the mac eyeshadow you are also paying for the container.
